Built In The 1840's, this Pcoono Inn was painstakingly renovated to preserve the essence of that high-flying era of gaslights, horse-drawn carriages, and Victorian opulence. It is said General Grant, President Taft, Buffalo Bill, Thomas Edison, and John D. Rockefeller have each stayed here. The village offers a wide variety of nearby activities such as boating, bicycle rentals, fishing, children's playground, golf, cross country skiing, sailing, horseback riding, galleries, hiking trails, jogging track, mountain biking, train rides, snow mobiling, swimming, water skiing, & snow skiing. The Swiss Tourist Board has dubbed Jim Thorpe "America's Little Switzerland."

Children age 16 & older charged as adults. Front desk open until 10:00 PM Wed-Sat., 8:00 PM Sundays, & 6:00 Monday/ Tuesdays. Arrangements can be made, however, if a guest wants to arrive after those times.
Originally built circa 1900 as a stable and carriage house, the Gatehouse was renovated in the early 50's into a gracious summer home by the famous musician and bandleader, Fred Waring. In 2001, the Gatehouse made its debut as a Pocono Bed and Breakfast and has become a warm and inviting four season retreat from the world. Each unique guest room has its own special style and features a private bath, walk-in closet and scenic views. Within walking distance to the Shawnee Inn.
